BJP Slams Odisha Govt Over Use Of BJD’s Conch Symbol To Advertise New Scheme, Threatens To Move Court

Bhubaneswar: Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday lashed out at the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government over the manner in which a new scheme was being launched in Odisha.

Accusing the Naveen Patnaik government of using BJD’s conch symbol for the advertisement of its new ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ scheme, senior BJP leader Mohan Majhi said the saffron party will move the court against it.

Strongly objecting to the use of the ruling party’s poll symbol in the advertisement, the BJP chief whip in Assembly claimed that the move is aimed at strengthening the vote bank of BJD, which apprehends defeat in the next elections.

“We will certainly challenge it. Conch is a party symbol and how is it being used in the government scheme. As the BJD is stung by the fear of defeat, conch symbol is being used in the advertisement,” said Majhi.

Claiming that the BJD is rattled as all government schemes launched during the last 23 years have failed, the BJP leader said the ruling party symbol has been used in the advertisement for the new scheme for electoral gain.
