BJP Team Meets Odisha Governor, Complains About ‘Worsening’ Law & Order

Bhubaneswar: A BJP delegation met Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal in Bhubaneswar on Monday and drew his attention to alleged deterioration of law and order situation in the state.

The delegation, led by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and alleged that the police have failed to control law and order situaton in the state.

After the meeting, Mishra told reporters that the delegation apprised the Governor about alleged police excesses on the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists during their protest in Bhubaneswar recently.

Coming down heavily on the BJD government in the state, the senior BJP leader alleged that the state government has failed to control law and order situation.

Referring to the mysterious murder of Minister Naba Kishore Das by a policeman, Mishra said though over a month had elapased since the sensational killing, the state government is clueless about those behind the crime.

The BJP leader further alleged that the BJYM activists, who protested the deteriorating law and order situation, were attacked by the police and several of them were framed with wrong charges and arrested. “Law and order has worsened and BJP workers are facing the wrath of the ruling party,” he alleged.

Alleging that involvement of BJD leaders are being alleged in several crimes including murder, Mishra claimed that 1,379 murders and 3,184 rape cases were registered in the state in 2020 which presented a true picture of law and order.

He said the BJP team urged the Governor to look into the matter and sought his intervention for improving law and order situation in the state.
