Bhubaneswar: Buoyed by the decisive victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, its senior leaders in Odisha on Sunday claimed that the spectacular show would have a positive impact on the party’s performance in the next Assembly election in the state.

Senior leaders, including Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Bishweswar Tudu, BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda, state party president Manmohan Samal and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, were of the view that the performance in the three states will definitely influence the 2024 elections.

Noting that Assembly election in Odisha will be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls next year, they expressed optimism that BJP would be in a position to form government in the state.

Stating that the poll results demonstrated the growing popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Tudu claimed that the people of Odisha have made up their mind to bring about a change by voting against the ruling BJD in the Assembly election.

The senior tribal leader said that BJP is formulating its strategies with an aim to win the next Assembly polls and form government in Odisha, where people are disillusioned with BJD’s misrule.

Voicing similar views, state party chief Manmohan Samal said that the trust and support of the people of Odisha towards BJP will be reflected successfully in the upcoming elections.

Describing the poll results in the three states as a semi-final, he said the final match will be held next year and BJP is all set to emerge victorious in Odisha and elsewhere. Samal expressed optimism about the saffron party forming government in Odisha, saying that common people have decided to oust BJD from power.

Both Tudu and Samal dismissed notions about a possible understanding between BJD and the BJP, and said the saffron has set its eye on winning the next Assembly polls in Odisha. They said the poll results of the assembly elections in the three states have proved the popularity of Narendra Modi.

Giving full credit to the leadership of Modi for BJP’s clean sweep in three states. Baijayant Panda said it shows that people have tremendous faith in his style of governance.

Stating that the results of the assembly elections will have an impact on the Lok Sabha elections next year, Panda said it will also have an impact on the elections in Odisha.

Making similar claims, senior BJP leader and MP Aparajita Sarangi said the people of Odisha are also impressed with the performance of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. The people of the state have made up their mind to dislodge BJD from power and give an opportunity to BJP, she claimed.
