Angul: In a shocking incident, unidentified miscreants allegedly hacked and critically injured a BJP worker in broad daylight at Amalapada Chhak in Odisha’s Angul town on Monday.
The BJP worker, identified as Parthasarathi Pradhan, sustained critical injuries in the attack. He was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) at Angul for treatment.
As per sources, the incident took place when Pradhan was returning home from a gym. Around five men on three motorcycles intercepted him and mounted a murderous attack on him before leaving the scene. The BJP worker was rescued by locals and rushed to the hospital.
While the reason behind the assault was yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the attack might have been a fallout of political rivalry.
Police have started an investigation into the matter and are examining CCTV footage in an effort to trace and apprehend the attackers.
