BJP Yuva Morcha Activists Scuffle With Police In City
Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of activists of the BJP Yuva Morcha courted arrest after a scuffle with the police near the State Secretariat in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
Protesting against the gross failure of the state government in providing employment opportunities to the youth, hundreds of BJP Yuva Morcha activists led by the chairperson of BJP Rashtriya Yuva Morcha, Poonam Mahajan, general secretary Sourav Choudhury and the state BJP Yuva Morcha president Tankadhar Tripathy, took out a rally from the party office to gherao the State Assembly.
However, they were detained by the police near the State Secretariat, where a scuffle ensued between the police and the agitators as they tried to break the cordon. Police later arrested several activists including the leaders.
“The time has come for the unemployed youth of Odisha to seek a clarification from the Naveen Patnaik-led government on its failure to provide employment despite its 19-year rule. The Morcha will intensify its agitation in the coming days. We will take up the issue to the grassroots level to make the people aware of the failure of the state government,” Tripathy told mediapersons.
