Black Magic In Govt Hospital: Orissa HC Directs Police To File FIR
Cuttack: Taking strong exception to practice of black magic even in cases of fatal incidents on hospital premises, the Orissa High Court has directed the police to file FIR in one such instance that took place in a CHC in Balasore district.
The incident that had gone viral revealed that a man, who sustained snake bite, had gone to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Baliapal on September 19 last year. Instead of medical staff of the CHC attending to the patient, a block programme manager allegedly attempted to cure him by black magic on the health centre’s premises.
Some social activists led by Anuj Kumar Mohapatra had filed a complaint with the police regarding the incident. The high court on Tuesday directed the police to register an FIR on the basis of the complaint.
It may be noted that in a similar case two days earlier, a snake bite victim was rushed to a hospital in Soro block of Balasore district where a lecturer tried to heal him through black magic. The video of this incident had also gone viral.
One year before this incident, black magic was performed on a dead woman inside Udala hospital in Mayurbhanj district after she died of snakebite.
