New Delhi: Amid Indian strikeback in key cities like Lahore, Sialkot and Karachi on Thursday night, there were reports of a huge explosion in the capital city of Islamabad.
The explosion, around 20 kilometres from Shehbaz Sharif’s official residence, prompted the administration to move the Pakistani Prime Minister to a safehouse.
The cause of the explosion was not clear.
Security measures around other important figures, including Army Chief General Asim Munir, have been intensified following explosions near high-security zones in Islamabad.
Pakistan ramped up its offensive against India on Thursday evening, launched multiple drones and missiles targeting Indian military installations in Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur, as well as Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.
However, India’s air defence systems, including the S-400, successfully neutralised incoming threats before they could cause damage.
Pakistan government has denied attacking Indian cities, blaming the media for politically motivated propaganda.
