Bhubaneswar: Members of All Odisha School College Teachers and Employees’ United Forum staged separate demonstrations in front of different evaluation centres across the state on Monday seeking immediate fulfilment of their demands.
“The school and college teachers have decided to stage dharna in front of 46 evaluation centres to boycott in the Matric answer sheet evaluation process which will begin from March 20. It has become clear that the state government is not at all serious about the future of students as the teachers’ strike is going to affect education in 3, 000 schools and 1, 500 colleges across the state”, said Odisha Secondary Teachers’ Association (OSSTA) general secretary Prakash Mohanty, who led a dharna in front of Capital High School here.
The association has also requested other teachers not to cooperate with the government in evaluation process. We will also boycott Plus II examination answer sheet evaluation in the days to come, Mohanty added.
The Chief Minister, in a recent press statement, had clarified that no affidavit is required for block grant teachers to avail grant-in-aid facility as sought earlier. But the government is yet to fulfil its promises.
The clarification came on February 14, following a dharna launched by the teachers and employees of more than 1, 000 schools and colleges from across the state at Mahatma Gandhi Marg on February 8 over various demands.
