BMC Registers Over 24% Revenue Growth In 1 Year, Says Bhubaneswar Mayor

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has registered more than 24% growth in revenue generation in the last year.

This was stated by Bhubaneswar mayor Sulochana Das while speaking to media persons on one year completion of the BMC council on Sunday.

Stating that the members of the present municipal council took oath on April 9, 2022, the mayor said the BMC has taken up several developmental projects during the last one year. The municipality has also improved its revenue generation by garnering Rs 73 crore registering a growth of 24.12% over the last year’s figure, she added.

“During the last one year, the BMC has opened 17 urban health and wellness centres and constructed 39.72 km of drains by executing 312 projects in the city,” she said.

Similarly, 967 new culverts have been constructed and 2,673 light posts erected. During its beautification drive in the capital, paintings have been completed on 11 lakh square feet of boundary walls and maintenance of 90 parks taken up, Das added.

On the BMC’s green drive, she said 35,395 saplings have been planted across the city to restore plantation cover. While 2,428 stary cattle have been rescued and rehabilitated, a new Goshala (cattle shed) is under construction on 20.5 acre of land at Jamukoli, she added.

The mayor further said out of total 15,915 complaints received by the BMC, 14,641 have been attended to during the year. As many as 34 playgrounds, 43 mini parks and 6 vending zones have been constructed in the capital city, said Das.
