Bhubaneswar: In another step for convenience of vehicle users in Odisha capital, the BMC is developing a software to provide real time information on parking lots.
According to sources, the digital service that will be integrated with the Bhubaneswar.me portal of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will have necessary details of the parking space in the city at any given time like public and private lots, availability and prices.
“The citizens won’t be required to download any new application for the purpose. To keep it simple and encourage wider use of the service, we have planned to integrate the facility with the existing Bhubaneswar.me portal and application,” TNIE quoted BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange as saying.
He further said besides ensuring proper utilisation of parking space, it would save the trouble of searching for space to park the vehicles by the commuters. The BMC is also planning to provide the facility of advance booking for parking service. However, it may take at least 3 months to develop the software, he added.
On illegal parking, Kulange said they were planning to identify parking and no-parking zones to address the menace. Once the places are identified, strict action will be taken by an enforcement squad against unauthorised parking in public areas, he added.
It may be noted that the BMC had earlier announced to introduce electronic ticketing machines (ETMs) in all parking lots in the city.
