Mumbai: Trouble seems to be mounting for Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ even before its release as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is reportedly seeking to permanently blacklist filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s production house, B62 Studios, over repeated safety violations on the film’s set.

According to an Indian Express report, the civic body has barred B62 Studios, along with applicants Komal Pokhriyal and Nasir Khan, from applying for filming permissions in Mumbai through the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Limited.

Formal notices are expected to be issued soon to inform the ‘Dhurandhar 2’ team of the action.

“Having received the clearances, the three applicants – Komal Pokhriyal, Nasir Khan and B62 production house – can no longer apply for shoot permissions with the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development CL website. On Tuesday, we will also be issuing notices to these three applicants informing of the action, and a copy of the notice will also be shared with the Maharashtra film cell and BMC’s Business Cell head,” a BMC official was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

The BMC has flagged “repeated violations” of safety norms during shoots in Mumbai’s A Ward area.

Authorities first noted irregularities on February 7 and 8, alleging that filming took place on a building terrace and that two generator vans were operated without necessary approvals.

Officials also claimed that the production house violated police conditions prohibiting use of crackers and flammable materials.

Deposits were reportedly forfeited after these incidents, and warnings of blacklisting were issued.

Despite this, a fresh application was submitted under a different name seeking permission for a late-night shoot on February 14.

While conditional approval was granted after assurances that no flammable materials would be used, authorities later received complaints around 12.45 am alleging that mashals were lit and used during filming.

Mumbai Police reportedly seized five mashals from the set.

Officials described the violations as “serious,” citing potential risks to public safety.

The sequel to the 2025 blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’, featuring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, is slated to be released on March 19.

The production house has not responded to the backlisting reports.
