Bodies Of 4 Women Missing In Koraput River Found; Naveen Announces Rs 4 Lakh Ex Gratia

Koraput/Bhubaneswar: The bodies of four women, who had gone missing in Patali river in Odisha’s Koraput district on Thursday, were recovered by rescue team on Friday.

The incident took place when the five women including two minor girls of Tansing village under Padua police limits in the district, were going to Badela village to attend a family programme. They had taken a country boat and were rowing it themselves to cross Patali river. When they reached middle of the river, the boat capsized and all of them went missing.

After the local people failed to trace them after a long search, they informed the police and Fire Brigade. The Fire service personnel launched a search operation. Though they also could not find the missing persons, the body of one person was found floating at Tansingh ghat.

The missing persons were Sasirekha Arlab, Shanti Seema, Nabina Arlab and Pushpanjali Arlab. The body of Lalmani Seema had been found.

The Fire personnel, who has stopped search operation due to darkness on Thursday night, resumed the operation on Friday and found the bodies of four missing persons.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended his condolence to the families of the deceased and announced ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh to families of each victim.
