Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police are probing the death of a woman, whose body was found from inside a vehicle at Sriram Nagar near Samantarapur in the early hours of Monday.
According to reports, some locals found the body of a woman lying near the driver’s seat inside a Tata Safari (OR-O2-AM-2600) vehicle in the early hours and informed Lingaraj police, which rushed to the spot with a scientific team.
Police have begun an investigation into the identity of the deceased and the owner of the vehicle.
Police suspect that the deceased might have been kidnapped and later killed by the assailant. Since the killer had absconded after parking the vehicle in the busy thoroughfare late in the night, it is suspected that the deceased might have been kidnapped from other place. Police are also trying to find out whether the deceased had gone missing before being killed and how many persons were involved in her murder.
Besides, as the front and rear panel of the vehicle had been damaged, it is being suspected that the vehicle might have collided with another vehicle. Efforts are on to ascertain whether the assailants had deliberately orchestrated the accident.
Police have also seized a mobile phone from the vehicle, which was found switched off.
“The body was sent to the Capital Hospital for postmortem. Besides, police are trying to get the details from the CCTV installed at the two showrooms and two private houses where the vehicle was parked,” Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu told mediapersons.
