Jajpur: At least 40 students from Bhadrak, Jajpur and Khurda districts who had taken admission into a B.Ed training institution, having branches at Bhadrak and Danagadi last academic session (2020-21), were shocked to learn that they were duped and cheated miserably.
According to a few students, who had paid more than Rs 30,000 each for admission to one-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course under Nagarjuna University of Andhra Pradesh, realised that they were fooled by tricksters when they were taken to appear their annual examination in the neighbouring state on September 14 with the help of fake admit cards. The students were not eligible to sit the examination which, however, was postoponed to September 17.
The students including Sagarika Sahu of Jajpur and Subhasri Panigrahi of Bhadrak have complained that they were taken to a godown in Andhra Pradesh and told to write their examination as it had nothing to do with the university.
On a complaint filed by the victims, Danagadi police detained the bogus B.Ed institution owner and his associates and seized their bus on the allegations of fraud.
