Richa Chadha Recounts Consecutive IndiGo Flight Delays; Reacts To Attack On Pilot

Mumbai: Days after the slapgate incident involving IndiGo airline, Richa Chadha on Wednesday narrated her ordeal following long delays in her recent flights.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she said that two of her IndiGo flights were delayed by 4 hours in the past three days, while the third, an international one, took off as scheduled. While stating that fog in New Delhi and the recent air show in Mumbai might have added to the airlines’ woes, she also blamed ‘lack of accountability’ for the chaos.

“Monopoly – whether airlines, airport ownership or leadership – creates lack of accountability. Common citizens suffer, with no recourse. Till we don’t recognise it, we will be at a disadvantage while paying through our noses. And if we don’t wake up, we deserve it haina,” the 37-year-old actor wrote.

Reacting to the simmering anger among passengers, which resulted in a flyer on board Delhi-Goa flight hitting the co-pilot after over 10-hour delay, she added: “I am surprised only one person got physically assaulted because tempers were running very high (I don’t condone violence).”

Another video, showing flyers of the low-cost air carrier having dinner on the tarmac after a flight was delayed for hours and later diverted, had also gone viral on social media.

Earlier, actors Radhika Apte and Sonu Sood had also shared their not-so-pleasant travel experiences. Radhika had said on Instagram that she and her co-passengers were locked on aerobridge for hours at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai after a flight was delayed. Some reports said that it was a Bhubaneswar-bound IndiGo flight.
