Mumbai/Delhi: IndiGo flight 6E 56 operating from Mumbai to Jeddah received a bomb threat on Monday. According to reports, the aircraft was taken to an isolated bay.
Following the standard operating procedures, mandatory security checks were promptly initiated, an Indigo Spokesperson told the ANI.
Earlier during the wee hours of Monday, an Air India flight was diverted to the Delhi airport following a security concern arising out of a bomb threat. The New York-bound flight had departed Mumbai around 2am, but had to be diverted to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday, according to news reports.
The flight is currently grounded in Delhi. “All standard safety protocols are being diligently followed to ensure the safety of the passengers and crew on board,” a senior police officer told the PTI.
Mumbai airport had received a message on X (formerly Twitter) regarding a bomb threat in the flight. The message was conveyed to security agencies in Delhi.
“Flight AI119 operating Mumbai to JFK on October 14 received a specific security alert and on instructions of the government’s security regulatory committee was diverted to Delhi,” read a statement from Air India.
All passengers had disembarked from the flight at the Delhi airport terminal.
