Puri: An abandoned bag with bombs inside it was found in Pipili area of Odisha’s Puri district on Saturday, creating panic in the area.
According to police sources, some local residents spotted the bag lying in a bushy area beside the road near the Pipili toll plaza.
As the sighting of the abandoned bag spread panic among people in the area, locals informed the police about the incident.
A team from Pipili police station rushed to the site and examined the bag. After thorough check by experts of the bomb disposal squad, several bombs were found inside the bag.
A thorough investigation is in progress to ascertain as to how the bag reached the site. The police are reported to be examining CCTV cameras in the area as part of the probe, sources said.
The bombs were suspected to have been placed to create chaos, possibly due to some rivalry between two groups. The police are working to identify the perpetrators and their motives.
The area has been cordoned off, and further investigation is underway to ensure public safety.
