BookMyShow Crashes Ahead of Coldplay Ticket Sale, Frustrated Fans Allege Black Market Nexus

New Delhi: The BookMyShow website crashed due to excessive traffic a minute before the tickets for the highly-anticipated Coldplay concert in Mumbai were set to go live on its platform.

It left fans frustrated who took to social media to express their disappointment.

Many fans shared screenshots of their pages which were taking longer to load amid a huge queue to buy tickets for the Coldplay concert. According to these posts, the queue had more than 3 lakh ticket buyers.

Making the most of the situation, some people started promoting competing ticket booking sites such as Viagogo. Some even claimed that there is a nexus between BookMyShow and Viagogo to ensure the tickets sell for higher prices in the black market.

“How does @viagogo get Coldplay tickets at the same time as @bookmyshow but at black market prices several times higher? Clearly there’s a nexus and BMS is selling them to Viagogo. This is screaming scam!,” said an X user in his post.

Coldplay is scheduled to perform in Mumbai on January 18 and 19, 2025, with tickets going on sale on September 22 at 12 noon. Coldplay last performed in India in 2016 during the Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai, and the band is returning to the country for its devoted fans after a long wait of 9 years.
