Keonjhar: Police on Sunday arrested a boy for alleged rape and murder of a minor girl of Jamirta village in Bamebari in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
According to police sources, the 6-year-old girl was playing near her house on Saturday evening. As she did not return home, her family members frantically searched for her in the night. However, the father of the girl found her body inside a forest near the village the next morning. He informed the police, which rushed to the spot with a scientific team. In course of the investigation, police nabbed the minor boy.
During interrogation, the minor boy confessed to the crime and said he killed the girl after raping her, fearing that she will inform her family members.
The accused will be produced before the juvenile court on Monday, police said.
