Breast Cancer: Bhubaneswar Hospital Holds Walkathon For Awareness
Bhubaneswar: The city-based Apollo Hospitals organised a walkathon on Sunday to mark the Breast Cancer Awareness Month observed in October.
DCP (Traffic Police) Sagarika Nath flagged off the walkathon which started from NICCO Park (Regional Institute of Education) at 7 am and made its way to Apollo Hospitals.
A 70-member team from “Help Mate” NGO along with the nursing staff and female security guards of the hospital also participated in the walkathon.
This was followed by an awareness talk on breast cancer by senior oncologists at the hospital.
According to the experts, the Union health ministry has ranked breast cancer as the number one cancer among Indian women, with one in 22 women developing this particular disease in the country.
Among others, Chandan Kar (film actor), Sulachana das (chairperson, State Commission for Persons with Disabilities), Dr Ashish Cahandra (director of medical services, Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar), Anjali Tripathee (president, Helpmate NGO) and several social workers were present on the occasion.
