Brown Sugar Worth Over Rs 1 Crore Seized, 4 Arrested In Odisha’s Khurda

Bhubaneswar: The STF of Crime Branch has seized brown sugar weighing more than 1 kg during a raid and arrested 4 persons in this connection in Odisha’s Khurda town.

On the basis of intelligence input about illegal deal and possession of narcotic drugs , a team of STF conducted the raid at Khurda on Saturday.

During search, brown sugar weighing 1.30 kg worth more than Rs 1 crore and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from their possession. The accused persons could not produce any valid document in support of possession of the contraband for which they were arrested and are being forwarded to the court of District and Sessions-cum-Special Judge, Khurda.

The accused persons have been identified as Rakesh Kumar Barik and Biranchinarayan Sahoo of Kochilabana Sahi under Khurda police station, Jagabandhu Biswal of Swapeneswar Sahi, Samantarapur near Bhubaneswar and Santosh Routray of Saguan Bagicha under Khurda police limits.

The STF has registered a case under NDPS Act 1985 and further investigation is on.

The STF has seized more than 55 kg of brown sugar/heroin, 202 gram cocaine, more than 111 quintal of ganja, opium 750 gram and arrested more than 156 drug dealers/peddlers since 2020, according to a release.
