BSF ADG Takes Stock Of Security Preparedness Against Maoists In Odisha’s 2 Dists

Koraput: Assistant Director General (ADG), BSF, Ashish Gupta visited Odisha’s Koraput and Malkangiri districts to assess the security scenario and operational preparedness of the forces against the Maoists in coming days.

On the first day of his three-day visit on Saturday, Gupta visited COB Kartanpalli along Odisha-Chhattisgarh border and interacted with troops. He told the troops to know the presence of Maoists in the area of deployment for effective operations and keep cordial relation with local population.

During his visit to Swabhimaan Anchal, he addressed the forces at COB Vantalguda and praised their efforts for establishing COBs in inaccessible and sensitive areas in the area, which was once a Maoist stronghold. He also interacted with civilians and distributed sweets to local children. IH Khan, Commandant, office of DIG, Malkangiri and Manoj Karki, Commandant, 2 Bn BSF were present.

On the second day of his tour, Gupta along with Satish Chandra Budakoti, IG Ftr (Spl Ops) BSF, Odisha, visited COB Dyke-III and interacted with troops and appreciated their effective domination and changing the dynamics of the area. He also inspected BSF boat patrolling in Balimela reservoir.

After that Gupta took an aerial recce of Bejjangewarha Reserve Forest to assess the Maoist situation in southernmost part of state and tri-junction of Odisha-Chhattisgarh-Andhra Pradesh.

He praised the troops for regaining control of the cut-off area by crushing activities of the Maoists and complimented the proactive approach of BSF in undertaking humanitarian assistance to locals. His visit ended with plantation drive of 3,000 saplings in Koraput sector on Monday.

Satish Chandra Budakoti, IG BSF; BB Gusain, DIG (G) BSF, Ftr HQ (Spl-Ops) Odisha and senior officers of BSF accompanied the ADG throughout the visit.
