The BSF has detected a cross-border tunnel which the terrorists had dug up to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir. The 150-metre tunnel was found in a desolate place under Chak Faquira border outpost in Samba of Jammu on Wednesday evening.

“With the detection of this tunnel, BSF-Jammu has foiled the nefarious designs of Pakistan-based terrorists to disrupt the upcoming Amarnath yatra,” NDTV quoted Border Security Force DIG SPS Sandhu as saying on Thursday. An alert has been sounded in the Jammu region, he added.

Sandhu said the tunnel, which originated from Pakistan, was freshly dug. Its opening was about 2 feet and so far 21 sandbags, used to strengthen the exit of the tunnel, have been recovered, he added.

It is suspected that two suicide bombers of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group used the underground tunnel to come to India around a fortnight back. The security forces had gunned down the terrorists after they attacked a CISF bus, killing an assistant sub-inspector in the Sunjwan area of Jammu on April 22.
