Berhampur: Gangapur police station IIC Deb Kumar Gamang died of gunshot wounds on Friday, informed Ganjam SP.
Gamang was hit by bullets fired from his service revolver inside the Gangapur police station premises.
Police said they were investigating reports that he was under mental stress.
Gamang was declared dead by doctors at Aska hospital.
The incident took place around Friday noon.
Asked whether the IIC took his own life, the Ganjam SP said they were investigating.
