Balasore: More than 20 people were injured when a bus carrying around 65 pilgrims from West Bengal overturned near Radhaballabhpur Chhak under Simulia police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district late on Monday.
The incident took place at around 2 am when the pilgrims were returning to Medinipur after visiting Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. The bus overturned after hitting a road divider on National Highway-16 after the driver reportedly dozed off at the wheels.
Simulia police rushed to the spot and sent the injured passengers to community health centres at Simulia and Soro for treatment. Three among them, who sustained serious injuries, were later shifted to Balasore district headquarters hospital.
Alternate arrangements were made to send others to their destination in another vehicle.
