Calling Out ‘Sycophancy’: Another Congress Leader Quits; Check List Of Recent Resignations
New Delhi: Congress continues to face desertions. In the latest blow, Jaiveer Shergill on Wednesday resigned as the party’s national spokesperson.
A practising Supreme Court lawyer, Shergill alleged that the decision-making process in Congress was based on serving the interests of a few individuals, indulging in sycophancy, and not the country and its people.
In a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Shergill said the primary reason behind his decision was that “the ideology and the vision of the current decision makers of the Congress is no longer in sync with the aspirations of the youth and modern India.”
He added that it pains him to say that “decision-making is no longer for the interest of the public and the country, rather it is influenced by the self-serving interests of individuals . indulging in sycophancy and consistently ignoring ground reality This is something I cannot morally accept or continue to work with.”
