New Delhi: Student leader and political activist Osman Hadi, who died in a Singapore hospital after being shot in Dhaka earlier this month, was known to be anti-India.

Ever since Hadi, who was the face of last year’s students-led July revolution, died on December 18, anti-India sentiment has been rising in Bangladesh.

Now, his outfit Inqilab Moncho has demanded the cancellation of work permits for Indians. The radical group has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Muhammad Yunus-headed interim government with four demands.

Issuing the ultimatum, Inqilab Moncho’s member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber urged the government to complete the trial of everyone involved in the murder of its leader within 24 days.

“The trial of the entire killing squad, including the killer, the mastermind, the accomplices, those who aided their escape, and those who sheltered them, must be completed within the next 24 days,” the party said in a Facebook statement.

The four demands of Inqilab Moncho are:

* The entire murder ring, including the murderers, the murder planners, the murder aides, the escape partners, the shelterers, must be brought to justice within the next 24 days.

* If Hadi’s killers are not returned within the next 24 hours/if a specific statement is not received about their stay in India, the work permits of the Indians must be cancelled.

* If India refuses to return all the murderers who have taken refuge inside it, a case must be filed against India in the International Court of Justice.

* The fascist culprits hiding in the Civil Military Intelligence must be identified, arrested and brought to justice.

Inqilab Moncho’s demand comes amid claims by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) that two prime suspects in Hadi’s killing fled to India via the Haluaghat border in Mymensingh district, which is connected to Meghalaya.

India’s Border Security Force (BSF) has rejected Bangladesh’s claims, saying there was no evidence of any such cross-border movement.
