Cancer Hospital & Palliative Care Centre In Bhubaneswar To Be Operational By 2024!

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government signed an MoU with Sri Shankar Cancer Institute, Karunashraya Palliative Care and Susmita Bagchi for the establishment of a cancer hospital and palliative care centre, at Lokseva Bhawan here on Wednesday.

These centres will come up in Bhubaneswar.

“I would like to congratulate Susmita Bagchi and Subroto Bagchi for their generous contribution of Rs 340 crore towards the establishment of one of the largest oncology centres in the country,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who was present on the occasion.

He also thanked Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Institute for partnering in the establishment of 500-bed cancer care and research centre and Bangalore Hospice Trust for the Palliative care centre. “Our government will extend all support to make these centres operational by January 2024,’ he added.

On Monday, the Odisha cabinet had given its go-ahead to Bagchi-Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Institute and Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre.
