CAPF Jawans Conduct Flag March In Bhubaneswar Ahead of Dual Elections

Bhubaneswar: In the run-up to Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha, the jawans of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) conducted a flag march in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

One comp-any of CAPF jawans carried out the flag march from Raj Mahal Square to Sishu Bhawan square in the city in the afternoon. The CAPF jawans included those from Assam Rifles, BSF, SSB, CRPF, CISF, NSG, and ITBP. The security drill was conducted to put a check on the activities of the criminals and anti-social people.

According to sources, the CAPF will conduct the flag march 2-3 times in a week till the end of the dual elections in the state. The security forces will focus on the slum areas and its residents, they said.

It may be noted that 15 companies of CAPF have already been deployed in 15 districts of the state in the first phase. As many as 50 companies of the security force will arrive in the second phase.

The Election Commission had sought deployment of 3.4 lakh CAPF jawans across the country during the elections. Their deployment has been stressed particularly in Maoist dominated states besides West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir.
