Hope is brewing for the auto industry as Mahindra and Maruti have delivered around 13,500 vehicles and 45,000 vehicles on Dhanteras, an auspicious day for purchases. Even luxury car maker Mercedes delivered over 600 cars on that day.
South Korean giant Hyundai delivered 12,500 in a single day. New entrant MG delivered 700 Hector SUVs too.
According to a report in Business Today, the over month long festive period between Navratri and Diwali accounts for around 25 per cent of volume of sales for cars and two-wheelers every year. Monthly sales are often 3.5-4 times during this period. Last year, however, the sales had fallen by 14 per cent.
Even with the surge of festive sale, Hyundai’s national sales head Vikas Jain has reportedly said that the sale figures were “still negative by 7-8 per cent”. He, however, added that the growth is good news.
