Casting Couch Slur: Odisha’s Filmmaker Akshaya Parija Moves HC For Anticipatory Bail

Cuttack: Odia filmmaker Akshaya Parija, who has landed in a soup following casting couch allegation against him, has applied for anticipatory bail in Orissa High Court here.

Parija has been accused of sexually exploiting a girl for the past one year on the pretext of casting her in movies and helping her start a business. The alleged victim also claimed that the filmmaker threatened her with dire consequences and to make her nude pictures viral if she married the person with him her wedding was fixed by her family recently. She also alleged that he insisted on keeping physical intimacy with her against her will.

While her written complaint on the allegation went viral, police had earlier said that no case has been lodged in this regard.

The girl also released a video on Friday, narrating the alleged wrongdoings by the filmmaker, which went viral over the internet.

In a counter complaint at Nayapalli police station, the filmmaker said that the girl had been blackmailing him after inviting him to her house for dinner when she recorded some objectionable videos with him. It is alleged that the girl has threatened to make the video public and demanded Rs 6 crore from him.
