Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch on Tuesday seized 1.14 kg brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore from Shankar Nagar area in Bhadrak district.
On a tip-off about transportation of brown sugar consignment on Monday, a team of STF raided Shankar Nagar area on Bhadrak-Chandbali road and seized the contraband.
The team also arrested one Minhaj Quadri who has been booked under Section 21(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. He was produced in the court today.

It may be mentioned here that STF launched a massive crackdown on illegal narcotics trade to nab the offenders and check the trade.
As per a release by the STF, the force has been successful in seizing over 2.5 kg brown sugar following raids in different parts of the State in the last 25 days. Over 2000 kg of Ganja (Dry Cannabis) has also been seized in the special drive.
