CBI Books TV Actor For Selling Video Clips Of Child Sex Abuse
Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked a Mumbai-based TV actor for allegedly running an international racket in child sexual abuse material.
The CBI has filed a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and IT Act against the accused.
According to a report in India Today, the actor’s victims included children and minors from the US, Europe and South Asia.
The accused had contacted over 1,000 minors in the age group of 10 and 16 years through Instagram.
He posed as a film star when contacting the minors and then lured them in sharing sexually explicit objectionable pictures and videos.
The accused then sold the content to his customers abroad through encrypted social media applications.
A CBI special unit recently conducted raids and searches in Mumbai and seized his mobile phones and laptop. A list of his customers both in India and abroad has been prepared.
The accused, a native of Haridwar, had acted as a junior artist in some TV serials.
