CBI Registers Corruption Case Against Sameer Wankhede, Who Arrested Aryan Khan

New Delhi: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday registered a case of corruption against, among others, Sameer Wankhede, the Narcotics Control Board (NCB) officer who had arrested son Aryan Khan in the alleged drugs-on-cruise case in 2021.

According to CBI officials, Wankhede and others had demanded a Rs 25-crore bribe for not framing Shah Rukh Khan’s son in the Cordelia cruise ship case, reported NDTV.

CBI conducted searches across Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi and Kanpur before booking Wankhede and some others in his team.

Wankhede was Mumbai zonal chief of NCB when he led a team in raiding the cruise ship off Mumbai coast on October 2, 2021. Drugs were recovered allegedly from Aryan and others, who were nabbed.

Aryan spent four weeks in jail before being cleared of all charges by NCB in May 2022 due to ‘lack of sufficient evidence’.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT), set up by NCB, earlier claimed that there were lapses in the investigation led by Wankhede, who was transferred to Directorate General of Taxpayer Services in Chennai last May.
