CBSE has carried a major reform for the Class X board exams in 2020 by giving students the choice to select either the easier version or the standard version of the Mathematics paper.
While the easier version will be known as ‘Mathematics-Basic’ for those who do not wish to take up the subject after Class X, the ‘Mathematics-Standard’ will be relatively tough and it will be for those who wish to make a career in Science.
As the students have already opted for their choice during the registration for the board exams, CBSE has released the sample question papers for both the formats.
- For Mathematics-Basic, students can click here to have an idea about the level of preparation required.
- Students who are appearing for Mathematics-Standard can click here and find out the level of difficulty and prepare accordingly.
Both the papers will carry 80 marks each and will be for three hours. The Class X board exams are likely to begin in February-March 2020.
According to CBSE, students who opt for ‘Mathematics-Standard’ but fail in the exam, can opt for ‘Mathematics-Basic’ in the compartments. Students who take the Mathematics-Basic can only re-appear in the same paper in the compartments.
