CCD Founder VG Siddhartha’s Body Found

Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) owner VG Siddhartha’s body was reportedly found by a group of fishermen from Netravati river at 6.30 am on Wednesday.

Siddhartha went missing on Monday evening near a bridge over the same river. He got down from his car and said he would take a walk, according to his driver. As he didn’t return for an hour, the driver alerted Siddhartha’s family members.

Police took the body to a hospital and is waiting for the family to confirm the identity.

The Coast Guard, NDRF and Navy had been searching for Siddhartha. The dog squad had got a smell of Siddhartha on the bridge.

A letter, supposedly written by Siddhartha, surfaced on Tuesday. It said he had failed as an entrepreneur and faced harassment from income tax officials.

Siddhartha, a coffee estate businessman, founded the country’s largest coffee chain and was son-in-law of former Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna.
