Puri: Central forces will be deployed in Pipili Assembly constituency in the district for the smooth conduct of the byelection scheduled on April 17.
Informing the media after a review meeting at Pipili, Additional Director General (ADG), Law & Order, Yashwant Jethwa said three companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) will arrive at Pipili very soon. As many as 18 platoons of the Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) will also be deployed, he added.
The ADG, while reviewing the law and order situation in Pipili, directed the local police to intensify special drive against the anti-social elements, seizure of illegal arms and issuing the arrest warrants.
After the election, the counting of the votes and declaration of result will be held on May 2.
