Bhubaneswar: A seven-member Central team, who arrived in Odisha on Sunday to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Yaas, left for two coastal districts on Monday.
The team, led by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Sunil Kumar Barnwal arrived in Balasore and had a meeting with district collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy and senior district officials. They later visited the worst-affected areas in Soro, Chadipur and Bahanaga blocks.
After visiting these three blocks, the team arrived at Dhamra in Bhadrak district and visited several villages in Dosinga and Jagula panchayats.
Before leaving for the two cyclone-hit districts, the team had a meeting with the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena at Hotel Mayfair here.
According to the schedule, the team will visit Kendrapada and Mayurbhanj districts on Tuesday.
After winding up its tour, the team will have a high-level meeting with the Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and the SRC on Tuesday afternoon and later leave for New Delhi.
The team will later submit a report to the Centre.
