Centre Takes Up Six-Laning Of Chandbali-Bhadrak NH In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Central government has taken up upgradation of Odisha’s Chandbali-Bhadrak section of the Kolkata-Chennai Golden Quadrilateral corridor to a six-lane highway with paved shoulders.

Stating this in a tweet on Friday, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said this road spans 4 states of Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

The highway serves as the primary arterial road linking the coastal areas of Odisha. It accommodates inter-state traffic carrying various agricultural, manufactured and industrial products as well as local mining minerals.

The highway also provides connectivity to popular tourist destinations such as the Maa Biraja temple, Sveta Baraha, Bhadrakali temple, Aradi Akhandalamai temple, Chandbali river port, Dhamnagar and Dhamra port of Bhadrak district.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are ensuring smooth and safe traffic flow while also augmenting the road capacity, speed and safety. These upgrades will match the benchmarks for National Highways and contribute towards the economic development of the region, in addition to boosting interstate goods and passenger movement,” said Gadkari.
