Puri: Chaka Bije Niti (a ritual to mark the improving health of the sibling deities) will be held at the Jagannath temple here on Sunday.
“On the occasion of Dasami Tithi, Chaka Bije Niti will be held. In this ritual, the sibling deities will be placed on three wheels. Lord Sudarshan and Madhab will also be placed near the sibling deities,” said Dr Sarat Mohanty, a servitor.
After the Madhyana Dhupa and Bhoga Mandapa rituals, the Jaya Vijaya Dwar will be closed. Then the Beharan Dwar will be opened and Chaka Bije Niti will be performed, according to temple insiders.
The Chakata and Pana Bhoga (Prasad) will also be offered to the deities after the Chaka Bije Niti.
Notably, the sibling deities were taken to Anasara Ghar (an asylum for the sick) on the Jagannath temple premises after they supposedly fell ill after the elaborate bath with 108 pitchers of herbal and aromatic water on Snana Purnima. The Gupta Niti (secret ritual) has been continuing in the Anasara Ghar since then.
Phuluri oil was also applied on the deities, following which Lord Jagannath and his siblings are in recovery mode now.
For the complete recovery of the, Raj Baidyas (physicians) will send Dasamula (herbal medicine) to the temple on Sunday. The Pati Mahapatra Sevaka will administer the medicine to the sibling deities on Ekadasi Tithi on Monday. After this ritual, the deities will be completely cured, said Dr Mohanty.
Notably, the Dasamula medicine is prepared from Shalapurna, Krushnaparni, Talapurni, Gambhari, Balla, Panapana, Gokhara, Ghee, Khua, honey etc. It is prepared for the deities following the instruction of Gajapati Maharaj.
