New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of former IAS trainee Puja Khedkar in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) cheating case.
Khedkar has been accused of cheating and fraudulently availing benefits under Other Backward Classes (OBC) and disability quotas to clear the UPSC exam.
Khedkar, who was earlier denied pre-arrest bail by a trial court, challenged the decision in Delhi High Court. She was then granted interim protection.
However, after reviewing the evidence and allegations, the Delhi High Court has found significant grounds to deny her petition.

The high court said noted her actions appeared to have been driven by “a motive to reap the benefits of schemes meant for disadvantaged groups in society.”
Prima facie, the court said her intentions were to dupe authorities and observed “her steps were part of a larger conspiracy.” The court also observed that Khedkar is “unfit” for appointment.
“The tactics used by the petitioner raise several questions. Her actions represent a classic example of fraud that undermines not only a constitutional body but society at large,” the court said in a strongly-worded judgment.
The court concluded, “A strong case has been made out against the petitioner, and interrogation is required to unearth the conspiracy,” and dismissed her petition.
