Chhattigarh’s Maoist Cadre Surrenders Before Telangana Police

Malkangiri: A Maoist cadre, Madvi Hidma, surrendered before the Mulugu Police in Telangana along with his rifle on Wednesday.

A native of Chhattisgarh, Hidma (25) is believed to have joined the Maoists about 9 years back. Mulugu Police said he surrendered before them and members of the CRPF’s 151 battalion yesterday.

Born in Tandamarka village under Kistaram police limits in neighbouring Chhattisgarh, Hidma was an active member of the Natya Mandal of the Maoists and was involved in routine activities.

He was picked up by Maoist leader Duddhi Kosa on the pretext of engaging him in farm work and included Hidma in CNM-Chaitanya Natya Mandali. Hidma used to teach songs and lyrics when he was barely 16.
He later joined the militia group in 2017 and was engaged in cooking and fetching groceries for them and gradually became a Revolutionary People’s Committee member in 2018.

He decided to give up arms after facing harassment in the party, stated a release by Mulugu district police.
