Angul: In a shocking incident late last night, a bus allegedly attempted to mow down an inspector from the Angul Cyber police station in the heart of the town.
According to police sources, the incident took place near Budhi Thakurani Chhak at around 11.30 pm when inspector Khaleswar Sethi was heading home after duty. A bus suddenly veered towards him, reportedly with the intent to kill. Sethi managed to dodge the vehicle by quickly stepping aside, averting what could have been a tragedy.
The bus then halted, and the driver, along with two associates, alighted and confronted the inspector, hurling verbal abuse, including caste-based derogatory remarks, as alleged in the complaint. The inspector promptly alerted the Angul police station, and officers arrived at the scene to ensure his safety.
He later filed a formal complaint.
Police are examining possible motives behind the attack. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.
