Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday called upon the people of Odisha, especially the youth, to donate blood.
“You can save lives by donating blood. We should create awareness among people on blood donation,” said the Chief Minister during the ‘Ama Mukhyamantri, Ama Katha” (Our Chief Minister, Our Story) programme here at the State Secretariat.
He also said blood donation has now become a campaign in the state. “No one should die in the state for blood deficiency. I also want every person, especially the youth, to come forward to the society for donating blood.”
Healthy persons aged between 18 and 65 can donate blood. The state government is providing free blood to the patients, suffering from hemophilia, thalassemia and sickle cell anemia, informed the Chief Minister.
Accident victims are also being provided free blood from the state government. People with blood disorders get Rs 500 as transportation fee, he added.
