Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has approved a proposal for the establishment of two new Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF) battalions in the state, keeping in view the growing industrial activities in the state and to maintain law and order in different industrial hubs.
A total of 2,080 posts have been created for these two new battalions – OISF Battalion III and OISF Battalion IV – with 1944 regular posts and 136 posts on an outsourcing basis. The regular posts across various ranks include two commandants, 6 deputy commandants, 16 assistant commandants, 24 inspectors, 54 SIs, 126 ASIs, 256 havildars, and 1350 constables.
With this, Odisha will now have four battalions of OISF. While there was one operational battalion with 1807 posts and the CM approved another in April this year, taking the total to two battalions with 2,847 posts.
With the creation of the third and fourth battalions, the total number of posts in OISF has now reached 4,927, a CMO release said.

“The newly-created posts shall be filled up in a transparent manner following relevant recruitment rules and provisions of ORV Act as amended from time to time. The expenditure on account of hiring cost of vehicles shall be charged from borrowing organisations. The cost of expenditure towards salary items, RCM and other allowances applicable to Police personnel of equivalent rank and pension, leave salary contribution and other retirement benefits of Police personnel so deployed shall be borne by borrowing organisations,” a Home Department release said.
