Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Saturday approved an additional battalion of the ‘Odisha Industrial Security Force’ (OISF) in view of the growing demand for security in industrial undertakings and establishments in the state.
A total of 1,040 posts have also been created for this new battalion, according to a CMO release.
“The state government is taking steps to prioritise industrial growth. Therefore, ensuring the security of industrial establishments and commercially important locations has become essential. Keeping this in view, the CM has approved the formation of the new battalion,” it added.
Currently, Odisha has one OISF battalion, which was raised in January 2014 on the lines of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), with 1,807 personnel. With the creation of the new battalion, there will be a total of two battalions, with a combined strength of 2,847.
During his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah earlier this month, the CM had said that efforts are on to recruit 3,000 security personnel for the OISF.
