Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday participated in the traditional ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’, the ceremonial act ritual of ploughing and sowing seeds in paddy fields on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya.
The agrarian festival of Akshaya Tritiya is being celebrated across Odisha as per the age-old tradition on Wednesday. The annual festival marks the commencement of agricultural activities before the onset of monsoon.
The Chief Minister visited the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) farm in Bhubaneswar and participated in the ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’ ritual. A state-level farmers’ gathering was held at the OUAT farm.
During the special programme organised by the department of Agriculture at the OUAT farm, the Chief Minister also participated in Bhumi Pujan ritual.
Similarly, Governor Haribabu Kambhampati is scheduled to participate in the ceremonial ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’ event in Berhampur.
CM Majhi also greeted the people and wished a good harvest season and prosperity of farmers. He extended his warmest greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
In a post on X handle, Majhi wished for a prosperous life for everyone and the prosperity of the state, emphasising the significance of the day for agriculture and farmers. He prayed for a good harvest this year, filling the granaries of farmer brothers and sisters.
“On the occasion of the sacred Akshaya Tritiya, I extend my heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all. Akshaya Tritiya is a special festival for agriculture and farmers. May today’s Akshimuthi be auspicious with the blessings of the Lord Jagannath. May the granaries of our farmer brothers and sisters be filled with a good harvest this year. On this sacred occasion, I wish for the prosperity of the state and a blessed life for all,” the CM said.
