CM visits riot-hit Bhadrak, assures compensation for victims

Bhadrak/ Bhubaneswar: Victims of communal violence will be provided adequate compensation and strict action would be initiated against those involved in promoting disharmony in Bhadrak, said chief minister Naveen Patnaik after taking stock of the situation in riot-hit Bhadrak town on Wednesday.

The CM, after chairing a review meeting at the district collector’s office, said vending zones will be set up to
rehabilitate persons, who have lost their shops during the recent communal violence in the town. He also directed concerned officials to prepare a detailed report regarding the damages and submit the same within the next three days.

During his visit, Naveen met victims at Chandan Bazaar, Old Town and Apartibindha and assured them of full support.

Meanwhile, the State Crime Branch questioned five local residents in connection with circulation of objectionable posts on Hindu deities on social media.

With violence-torn Bhadrak limping back to normalcy, curfew was eased in the town from 7 am to 4 pm. Bus services also resumed in the town.
