Cold Wave Grips Odisha, IMD Issues Yellow Warning
Bhubaneswar: With the night temperature plummeting to 5.6°C in Odisha in the last 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued cold wave warning for several districts of the state for the next two days.
“Northwesterly/northerly dry and cold wind at lower levels penetrating over Odisha and under its influence isolated cold wave is very likely in some parts of Odisha during next two days,” the MeT office said in a special bulletin.
It further said that there will be no large change in the night temperature) during the next 2 -3 days and the mercury will gradually rise by 2-4°C in the subsequent period. “The minimum temperature is very likely to remain 3-5°C below normal at many places in the state during the next 2-3 days,” it added.
Notably, the mercury plummeted below 15°C at 31 places in the state in the last 24 hours. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 11.5°C and 11°C respectively.
