Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in Odisha for two more days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
Warning has been issued for Sundargarh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts till December 12 morning. Cold wave may continue to sweep isolated pockets over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Angul during the subsequent 24 hours.
The weather agency has also warned of dense fog at one or two places in Sundargarh and Koraput till December 13 morning. The night temperature is unlikely to witness any large change during the next 7 days, it added.
In the last 24 hours, severe cold wave conditions prevailed in Jharsuguda, which saw a sharp drop in the night temperature by almost 7°C to record 6.8°C. Angul also felt the winter chill at 8°C, which was 6.2°C below normal.

Semiliguda in Koraput was coldest place in the state at 3.5°C, followed by G Udayagiri and Phulbani in Kandhamal at 4°C and 5.2°C, respectively, Chiplima in Bargarh at 6.1°C, Rourkela at 6.6°C, Jharsuguda at 6.7°C and Daringbadi, also in Kandhamal, at 7°C.
The other places, where the night temperature hovered around 10°C and below, include Bhawanipatna and Angul at 8°C each, Kirei in Sundargarh (8.1°C), Nabarangpur (8.6°C), Koraput and Balangir at 9.3°C each, Keonjhar and Sundargarh at 9.6°C each.
The night temperature also dropped in the twin cities of Odisha. Bhubaneswar recorded 11.8°C, 4.1°C below normal, while the mercury stood at 11.6°C, 3°C below normal, in Cuttack city.
Dense fog also occurred on Rourkela and Koraput, reducing visibility to less than 50 metre, while moderate fog was seen in Phulbani, where shrubs, paddy yards, and open fields were coated with frost, and shallow fog in Bhawanipatna and Chandbali, it added.
